Second Degree Accelerated BSN
Basic Information: South Dakota State University is located in Brookings, South Dakota. The second degree accelerated BSN is only offered at campuses in Sioux Falls and Aberdeen. The Sioux Falls campus starts in August and the Aberdeen campus starts in January. This program is for students who have already earned a bachelor's degree in another field and have finished the basic requirements for their BSN.
Must Dos: Students must apply to South Dakota State University and to the College of Nursing.
Program Length: 12 months long.
Nursing Prerequisites: Courses include Chemistry with Lab, Sociology, Psychology, Organic & Biochemistry with Lab, Anatomy & Physiology I/II with Lab, Lifespan Development, Microbiology with Lab, Nutrition, and Statistics. Six of the ten prerequisite courses must be completed upon applying to the nursing program. General education requirements include College Algebra or higher, English Composition I/II, Fundamentals of Speech, First Year Seminar, and two Humanities courses. Students must have a prerequisite GPA of at least a 3.0 or higher.
Prior Classwork Information: Students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.8 or higher.
