Second Degree Accelerated BSN
Basic Information: Oregon Health and Science University is located in Portland, Oregon. A list of information sessions can be found here. There are 32 students accepted for fall cohort and 64 students accepted for summer cohort. In 2012 there were 500 applicants for these programs. This program is for students who have already earned a bachelor's degree in another field and have finished the basic requirements for their BSN.
Must Dos: Students must apply to Oregon Health and Science University and the College of Nursing.
Program Length: Five consecutive semesters. This program starts in either the end of June or the end of September.
Nursing Prerequisites: Students must have completed a bachelor's degree in a subject other than nursing. They must have taken Anatomy & Physiology I/II/III, Nutrition, Microbiology, Genetics, Statistics, English Composition I/II, Technical/Scientific Writing, nine Humanities credits, Human Growth & Development, and two Social Science classes. The average prerequisite GPA in 2012 was 3.84. Students must have a prerequisite GPA of at 3.0 or better and a grade of B- or better in all prerequisite courses.
Prior Classwork Information: Students must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
