University of Alaska BSN Nursing School


 

Basic Information: The University of Alaska Anchorage is located in Anchorage, Alaska.  This program is meant for students who have completed all general education and prerequisite courses wishing to get their BSN.

Must Dos: Apply to the University of Alaska Anchorage and the College of Nursing.  Students must also have three letters of recommendation and submit the answer to their essay question provided in the application.

Program Length: This program is meant to take eight semesters with the last four semesters focused on nursing classes.  The program of study can be found here.

Nursing Prerequisites:  Courses include Anatomy & Physiology I/II, Chemistry, Organic & Biochemistry, Life Span Development, Nutrition, and Statistics.  Students must also take Critical /Creative Thinking, Introduction to Logic, Introduction to Philosophy, or Human Development.  You also need to be enrolled in Microbiology, Anthropology or Economics, and two Social Science/Humanities/Fine Arts classes when you start applying.  Students must have at least a 2.70 cumulative GPA for prerequisites with grades of C or greater.  

Prior Classwork Information: Students must have at least a 2.70 cumulative GPA for prerequisites with all grades greater than a C.
