University of Nevada, Las Vegas BSN




 

Basic Information: University of Nevada, Las Vegas is located in Las Vegas, Nevada.  This program is set up for the entry-level freshman wishing to gain their BSN or transfer students who have completed their general education requirements.

Must Dos: Apply to University of Nevada Las Vegas first.  Talk with a pre-nursing counselor about the most efficient way to get your prerequisite classes done and how to apply for the nursing program.  

Program Length: After completion of prerequisite classes, students take classes for four consecutive semesters.  Each semester is 15 weeks long.  The BSN program takes a total of 16 months to complete once students are admitted to the program.  The "Plan of Study" or classes you take at UNLV can be found here

Prerequisites: In addition to general education credits, students must take Fundamentals of Life Science, Anatomy & Physiology I/II (minimum grade B), Microbiology (minimum grade B), Introduction to Chemistry, Statistics, and Nutrition (minimum grade B).   A list of all the prerequisite and general education classes required can be found here

Prior Classwork Information: Students must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 or better.

Application Information: The application to University of Nevada Las Vegas can be found here.  Application deadlines for the College of Nursing are the last business day in February for Summer Semester, the last business day of June for Winter Semester, and last business day in October for Spring Semester.

Admission Tests: Students must take the HESI A2 Exam.  You have two chances to get a passing score of 75% or higher. If you are a non-native English speaker, you must provide your test score for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
